The Unsolved Disappearance of Cristina Ase

61-year-old Cristina Ase was last seen in Vancouver, Washington on March 26, 2024. She was reported missing by her husband after she failed to show up to work after leaving home in the morning.

Background

At the time of her disappearance, Cristina Ase was a resident of Vancouver, Washington. She lived with her husband, Anibal Diaz, at Village at Cascade Park Apartments, an apartment complex at 501 Southeast 123rd Avenue.

Cristina worked as a nursing director at Rose Linn Care Center, an assisted-living facility in West Linn, Oregon, where she had been employed for fifteen years.

Disappearance

On March 26, 2024, Cristina Ase was last seen when she left her home in Vancouver, Washington, presumably to head to work, around 6:47 am.

Around 7:00 am, Cristina sent a text message to a coworker saying that she would be late for her shift, which was scheduled to start at 7:30 am. Cristina never showed up to work that morning and hasn’t been heard from since.

After she failed to show up for work her husband filed a missing person’s report with the Vancouver Police Department.

Investigation

On March 27, 2024, Cristina’s vehicle, a 2013 gray Toyota Rav4 Limited SUV with Washington license plates AQT1726, was found parked on the side of a road about a mile away from her apartment complex. Her lunch bag was left inside the car.

The rearview mirror was found askew and a powdery white residue, which appeared to be a cleaning agent, was coated on several surfaces of the interior.

Phone records show that Cristina left home at 6:34 am that morning, however she drove south on Interstate 205 into Portland, instead of heading to her workplace in West Linn, Oregon.

Around 6:47 am, her phone pinged near the Southeast Foster Road exit before arriving a minute later at a residential neighborhood north of Glenwood Park in Portland, Oregon.

Her phone stayed in that area for three hours, during which time Cristina called in late to work at 7:00 am. During those three hours she appeared to be moving between the park and one or more nearby homes in the neighborhood.

By 10:00 am her phone moved to an area near the intersection of Southeast Flavel and 92nd Avenue, where it stayed for five minutes before it was finally shut off.

There has been no activity on Cristina’s bank account or credit cards since she disappeared.

Phone records show that Cristina misled her employer and husband about her whereabouts on at least two occasions before her disappearance. On both occasions she left home at 6:30 am before calling in late to work twenty minutes later, saying that she would arrive at 8:30 am.

Authorities are unsure about Cristina’s whereabouts during those times, but they suspect she visited the area of Glenwood Park, as the Southeast Foster exit of Interstate 205 is a twenty-minute drive from her home, which would match with time frames in which she called in late to work.

Whereabouts

Police are considering Cristina Ase’s disappearance suspicious in nature and highly unusual for her regular pattern of behavior. The circumstances of Cristina’s disappearance remain unclear and her case is currently classified as missing.
