Ever since the first Fear Street trilogy arrived on Netflix in 2021, there have been constant rumors about the long-awaited sequel, and one of them is finally coming to Netflix. The 15th book from RL Stine’s vast library was prepared for adaptation. Here’s everything we know about Netflix Fear Street: Prom Queen.

As a quick recap Fear Street, parts one, two and three all premiered on Netflix in summer 2021, and development previously began at 20th Century Fox.

The way to Fear Street: Prom Queen on Netflix

As mentioned above, the road to the fourth film was long. Rumors of a fourth film appeared right after the end of the main trilogy. In July 2022, Bloody Disgusting first reported that multiple films were in heavy development, and a few months later, Sheriff Jeff Sneider of Above the Line confirmed it. There was also news that Chloe Okuno was being sought for the role of director. Okuno is the most famous Observer, V/H/S/94, AND Let the right one in.

At the end of 2023 we received another update to the new one Fear Street film in a stormy interview with Collider. The website’s editor-in-chief, Steven Weintraub, spoke with Netflix’s head of film, Scott Stuber, about a number of projects in the works in November 2023. When asked about Fear StreetStuber confirmed that the film is still in development and will be a standalone film.

“There is one standalone film that we are currently working on and we are once again trying to come up with a good script, but I really like it and so does the team. So I feel that if we can get the script right, it will be a great extension of this series.”

Then in January 2024, we reported that production of the new film was already being prepared and would begin soon. Additionally, we learned that the new movie will be about the book 15th Fear Street, Prom Queen.

Who is behind Fear Street: Prom Queen on Netflix?

We first reported about it on January 31 Matt Palmerbest known for the underrated Netflix horror series Caliber, released a new film in 2018 and will be directing this film. He is the co-author of the script for the new film Donald McLeary.

Per Netflix, Yvonne Bernard, Joan Waricha, Jane Stine and Caroline Pitofsky will oversee production for Chernin Entertainment, which is partnering with Netflix as part of a broad overall deal.


What is Fear Street: Prom Queen about?

According to Netflix, here’s the official synopsis for the new movie:

“Welcome back to Shadyside. In the next installment of the blood-soaked Fear Street series, prom season continues at Shadyside High and the school’s wolf pack of It Girls are busy with their usual sweet and cruel campaigns for the crown. But when a brave outsider is unexpectedly nominated for the court and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the Class of ’88 suddenly finds itself in for one hell of a prom.

RL Stine Fear Street: Prom Queen was the fifteenth installment of the Fear Street novel and was published by Simon Pulse on March 1, 1992. It belongs to a wide range of books by the author, also known for Goosebumps. To date, there are over 150 of them Fear Street books in total.

The plot centers around Lizzie McVay, a student at Shadyside High School and one of five nominees for the Prom Queen award. When a bloody and brutal act by one of the nominees leads to further murders, Lizzy realizes that the killer is targeting the Prom Queen candidates, and she may be next on the list.

Fear Street: Prom Queen is a standalone feature that will likely not include z characters Fear Street trilogy released on Netflix in 2021 The Street of Fear trilogy The adaptation was inspired by many Fear Street novels, however Queen of the ball is going to adapt one novel. However, given the sheer scope of the Fear Street novel, there is a chance for further inspiration from other books to add more story and horror to the film.

In March 2024, Netflix confirmed the cast of the new film, establishing a large and, admittedly, young cast. Here’s who stars:

  • India Fowler (Nevers, Insomnia)
  • Zuzanna Son (Red Rocket, Idol)
  • Fina Strazza (Paper girls, Above the Shadows)
  • David Iacono (The summer I became beautiful, Cinnamon)
  • Ela Rubin (An idea for you)
  • Chris Klein (Sweet Magnolias, American pie)
  • Lily Taylor (External coverage, Manhunt)
  • Catherine Waterston (The end where we begin, Perry Mason)

Where is Fear Street: Prom Queen in production on Netflix?

In January 2024, we first heard from the Directors Guild of Canada that pre-production on the film had begun that month. This means filming will begin this spring in Toronto, and hopefully we’ll hear more about the film’s cast, director, and behind-the-scenes talent soon.

Production on the new film began on March 25, and filming is scheduled to end on May 15, 2024.

According to DGC, post-production of the new film is expected to last until September 20, which may mean that we will receive the film just in time for Halloween, or it may take a little longer.
