The Unsolved Disappearance of Charlotte Trego
27-year-old Charlotte Trego was last seen in Chillicothe, Ohio on May 3, 2014. She disappeared after she was evicted by her roommate following a heated argument.
Background
Charlotte Eliza Trego was born on June 5, 1986 to parents Yvonne Boggs and Richard Trego. She is the mother of two children, who were ages 4 and 14 at the time of her disappearance.
Charlotte grew up as the youngest of three children in Chillicothe, Ohio. Her parents later divorced, and her father died in 2002 after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Trego soon became more distant and reserved and her grades began to degrade at school. At age sixteen she gave birth to her first child, whose father was someone from her high school.
Trego got involved with drugs like most of her friends during high school. She has a history of drug abuse, including heroin and prescription drugs. She also suffers from depression and had attempted suicide in the past.
In 2014, Charlotte was living with a roommate at a residence on Ewing Street in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Disappearance
On May 3, 2014, Charlotte Trego went out to dinner with her mother. She seemed high-spirited at the time, saying she had a date after dinner.
The date didn’t go well, but Trego didn’t go into any detail when she spoke about it with her mother on the phone later that night. She last asked her mother for help to get into a rehabilitation program in order to turn her life around.
Later that night, Charlotte reportedly got into a heated argument with her roommate. She was last seen leaving on foot from their residence on Ewing Street in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Charlotte never showed up after that day and has never been heard from again. On May 28, 2014, her mother filed a missing person’s report with the Chillicothe Police Department.
Investigation
Between 2014 and 2015, six women were reported missing in Chillicothe, Ohio, with three of them being found deceased. Charlotte Trego knew some of the other women as they ran in the same crowd.
Charlotte was friends with 30-year-old Tameka Lynch who went missing on the same day. On May 24, 2014, Tameka’s body was found in Paint Creek, Ohio, clothed only in a pair of socks. The death was ruled a drug overdose.
On November 3, 2014, 37-year-old Wanda Lemons went missing from Chillicothe. The woman’s friend indicated that she possibly went with a male truck driver to Texas where she had family, but she never showed up after that day.
20-year-old Shasta Himelrick, who was in the early stages of pregnancy, went missing on December 26, 2014. Her body was found a week later in the Scioto River with her death determined to be a suicide by drowning, a ruling her family disputed.
26-year-old Tiffany Sayre went missing on May 11, 2015. Her body was found a month later along Cave Road, about 30 miles west of Chillicothe, wrapped in a sheet alongside a creek bed not far from where Tameka Lynch’s body had been found.
Charlotte’s disappearance may be connected to the missing cases of Megan Lancaster, Holly Logan and Jayme Bowen. Authorities indicated that drug abuse, prostitution, or human trafficking are possible factors in their disappearances.
